Until DNA technology allows us to read, interpret and utilize each
animal's entire DNA sequence we will be forced to continue to use secondary
methods to project the individual animal's potential. The JHL uses numerous
secondary methods in an attempt to "shave" off outlier genetics.
Some of those secondary methods are:
- Fertility

- Forced Efficiency
- Disposition and
Phenotype
- Breed specific
Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs)
- Linear Measurements
- Ultrasound
technology
- Spot DNA tests
- Rail Data
Each
of these secondary methods involves tracking in order to Know Thy Cow.
